Applications of Machine Learning, Deep Learning for Smart Grids

Call for Workshop Papers

There is ever increasing demand for electricity due to several factors such as rapid urbanization, increase in urbanization, etc. The present electrical power network distribution system is very complicated and is not effective for current demand. Some of the drawbacks of the conventional power system are lack of visibility, usage of mechanical switches, which leads to reduced response time, deficiency of monitoring, and power control. To overcome these limitations of the traditional electricity distribution, the need of the hour is smart grid. A smart grid includes a variety of operation and energy measures like renewable energy resources, smart meters, energy efficient resources, smart appliances, etc. Electronic power conditioning and control of the production and distribution of electricity are important aspects of the smart grid.

Machine Learning (ML) and Deep Learning (DL) techniques play a very important role in smart grids. ML and DL algorithms can be used defectively to automatically understand the electricity usage patterns, predict the demand of electricity, automatically distribute the electricity based on the demand. Hence, ML and DL have many applications in smart grid such as reduction of leakages, wastage of electricity, thereby effectively managing the smart grid.  This workshop invites the prospective authors to submit their quality work on applications of ML and DL in smart grids such as:

  1. Electricity demand prediction
  2. Electricity theft detection
  3. Load balancing
  4. Stability of the smart grid
  5. Security in smart grid
  6. Data Management and Grid Analytics
  7. Intelligent Monitoring Systems
  8. Integration of Soft Computing and Metaheuristic approaches with ML and DL for any of the above applications
