Panel Title:
ICT-driven Innovation for the Energy field
Panel Time:
Friday, 20 May 2016
12:30 - 14:00
Panel scope (provisional):
The panel will discuss the potential for innovation derived by the connection of ICT technologies and the energy domain. In particular, we would like to pivot the discussion on the economic implications of the usage of ICT tools. On one hand the industry benefits from ICT innovation by integrating traditional SCADA systems with advanced communication and computation platforms.
On the other hand, a new range of technologies in the energy domain embraces consumer-type solution including the usage of smart phone apps, source crowding and social networks. Indeed, because innovation in the energy domain appears more and more related to such tools, we witness also novel possibilities of business in the wider smart-city ecosystem with connections which were impossible just a few years ago.
The panel discussion will also involve aspects of energy trading depending on the national market regulation, roles of public bodies and regulators and how policies act onto the innovation in this domain.
